Surya Foundation is managing Surya Eklavya Sainik School (SESS) for the tribal children of Gujarat on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model in collaboration with the Tribal Development Department, Govt. of Gujarat. The School came into existence in 2004 as Gujarat Govt. Sainik School and was taken over by Surya Foundation in 2010 as Surya Eklavya Sainik School. Visionary Chairman of Surya Foundation Padma Shree Jai Prakash Agarwal envisioned bright future of tribal children who have indomitable courage to withstand challenges of life. He remains lighthouse for these children. His incessant encouragement and guidance has paved a fruitful and bright future for the children of Tribal Community. On taking over the school by Surya Foundation and under the guidance of senior army officers, especially Brigadier D.C. Pant (Retd), Senior Vice Chairman, Surya Foundation paved the path to fulfill the vision of Jai Prakashji. Under his leadership and guidance, this Sainik School achieved fame & name through his innovative ideas of providing quality education, imparting military training and imbibing qualities of a true nationalist. The school functions on three altars - Shiksha, Shaurya and Sanskar.

The school presently has strength of 462 cadets. Each class has two sections and each section has the strength of 40 students. English is used as a medium of instruction from Std 7th and gradually moving up to Std 12th. This school has established itself as one of the best schools in the State of Gujarat in Academics, Sports and Youth Development. Classes 10th and 12th have achieved almost 100% results and the students have bagged hundreds of awards in sports at District, State and National levels.
