Lance Naik Albert Ekka, a gallant soldier was martyred in action in the battle of Hilli in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. He was awarded Param Vir Chakra, India's highest award for valour in the face of the enemy. Albert Ekka belonged to an Adivasi tribe.
