2/Lt. Arun Khetrapal, a young officer of Indian Army, was the posthumous recipient of Parma Vir Chakra, the highest military decoration for valour in the face of the enemy. He was martyred in the battle of Basantar during the 1971 Indo-Pak War in Jammu sector in a fierce tank battle after he had shot and destroyed four Pakistani tanks.
